28 Supported Formats Guide and Engine Integrations

USEit Viewer simultaneously supports 28 modern and industrial formats across digital design, CAD drafting, prepress, and 3D modeling.

1. Vector Graphics (.svg, .ai, .eps, .cdr)

  • .svg (Scalable Vector Graphics): native high-performance rendering via QtSvg. Built-in visual color editor and code optimizer.
  • .ai (Adobe Illustrator): high-precision vector extraction via PyMuPDF without launching Adobe Illustrator.
  • .eps (Encapsulated PostScript): DOS EPS binary header parser for extracting embedded TIFF/WMF/DIB thumbnails.
  • .cdr (CorelDRAW): instant thumbnail extraction directly from CorelDraw ZIP archives.

2. Engineering CAD Drawings (.dxf, .dwg)

  • .dxf (Drawing Exchange Format): native contour and polyline rendering via ezdxf with line-weight calculations and razor-sharp zoom.
  • .dwg (AutoCAD): enabled when the free ODA DWG Converter (by Open Design Alliance) is installed. The application runs it in an isolated background process to quickly generate DXF R2018.
How to enable DWG: Install the free ODA File Converter utility. In USEit Viewer, open «Settings» ➔ «Path to ODA DWG Converter» and select ODAFileConverter.exe.

3. 3D Models (.stl, .obj, .gltf, .glb, .blend)

  • Built-in Math Engine: without external dependencies, the engine projects STL/OBJ vertices into 2D, depth-sorts polygons, and renders shaded 3D meshes with directional lighting.
  • Blender Integration: configuring the path to blender.exe unlocks realistic Workbench materials, textures, and soft shadows. It also enables full support for .blend files!

4. Raster Graphics (12 Formats)

Supported: .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .gif, .webp, .bmp, .ico, .tiff, .tif, .psd, .heic, .heif.
Features high-quality Lanczos resampling, automatic camera/smartphone EXIF orientation correction, and native decoding for Apple iPhone photos (.heic/.heif).

5. Fonts & Typography (.ttf, .otf, .ttc, .woff, .woff2)

Generates an interactive typography specimen with live custom preview text. Fully supports .ttc collections with subfont selection and compressed web fonts .woff/.woff2.
